Through his unifying leadership, Senator Barack Obama offers a unique opportunity to overcome gridlock in Washington by seeking common ground to address the grave social ills of our time. Too often in recent elections, wedge issues and the politics of personal attacks have polarized civic dialogue and participation in Catholic communities. Despite some who are already resorting to such divisive tactics, we believe this year can be different. To help make sure we realize our goal of a new politics, we have launched this site to get 10,000 Catholics and people of faith to sign up, support Barack, and work toward common ground over the next four months.
Become one of the 10,000 by signing up in the box to the left and declaring why you support Barack Obama.
After signing up, there many more ways to get involved:
1) Pray with us for the candidates and our country
2) Commit to service in your local community
3) Read and join the dialogue on our blog
4) Host an American Values House Party for the Obama Campaign
5) Invite members of your parish or faith community to get involved
6) Volunteer with the campaign to help register new voters
We strongly believe that this website is consistent with our responsibility as faithful citizens as outlined by the U.S. Catholic Bishops. We understand that some believe that we have no business as Catholics and people of faith declaring our support for Barack Obama. While we disagree, we do so in a spirit of civility, friendship, and open-mindedness that Barack Obama's campaign embodies. We welcome all perspectives and viewpoints, even those who disagree with us.
Thank you for your support and together, Yes We Can!
